At Byfield Primary School all members of staff exercise a great deal of care and commitment towards each individual child. The teachers are supported by experienced and well – qualified learning support assistants. We are very aware of the ability of each child and the children are given individual targets for their future progress. These targets are shared with the children and parents. Class teachers meet the parents regularly in order to discuss their child’s progress and there is an annual written report. There is a nursery on site so that transition into school is smooth. Byfield Primary School is essentially a community school. There is a high degree of cooperation and support from various stakeholders within the village and beyond. There are strong links between Byfield Primary School, Byfield Nursery School, Holy Cross Church, Byfield Parish Council, Byfield Village Hall Committee, The Byfield Branch of the Royal British Legion, The Local Education Authority, The Area Environmental Education Officer and many other groups and individuals.

Byfield Primary School Vision Statement.

The school vision statement was produced collaboratively by the governors, the headteacher, the teaching staff and the non – teaching staff of Byfield Primary School. It is shared with the parents and pupils of the school termly.
At Byfield School we aim to provide an effective learning environment at the heart of the community where the individuality of each child will be recognized and respected. In addition to this we aim to develop the children’s skills and personalities to their maximum potential and encourage enthusiasm and hunger for learning in the children, to prepare them for the next stages of education and their role in society.
