PLANNING APPEALS
Although Daventry District Council has refused an application by Manor Farm Developments Ltd to build houses on land behind the Medical Centre, an Appeal has been launched against the Refusal. A separate Appeal has been launched for ‘non determination’ on the Application for ‘change of use of land to pocket park and construction of footpath’ on the lower stretch of the same piece of land, with access from Church Street. Full details of these applications and determinations can be seen on the Daventry District Council website (application number DA/2011/0407).
The Appeals will be heard in the form of Informal Hearings at the Council’s offices on Wednesday 4th January.
You can view the appeal documents on www.daventrydc.gov.uk, or go to the Council’s offices and ask to see the planning file.
Anyone with any comments to make about either or both of these appeals may attend the Hearings and may, at the discretion of the Inspector, give those views.
PLANNING APPEALS TIME CHANGE
The Inspector hearing the Appeals against Refusal of Planning Applications by Daventry District Council against Manor Farm Developments Ltd on Wednesday 4th January has requested that they now start at 11am. The venue remains the Council’s offices.

BYFIELD MOUNTAIN BIKE GROUP
Are you looking to get into shape after the holiday excesses? Then why not join the Byfield Mountain Bike Group on Sunday mornings for a cycle ride round the local area?
They are a bunch of easy going cyclists that meet every Sunday at 10am under the arches at the end of Bell Lane, near The Twistle.
Depending on conditions and turnout on the day they usually cycle partly on and off road for around 1½ to 2 hours. A great way to exercise whilst taking in the local scenery and places of interest, some you didn’t even know existed!
Anyone is welcome to join them. To contact them go to their Facebook Page: http://on.fb.me/byfield or just turn up – with your bike!

PROJECTED LOANS
There is now a digital projector and screen available for loan to village organisations for presentations, speakers etc. The screen was purchased last year by the Wednesday morning Coffee Club, who have now, in conjunction with Byfield WI., also purchased a digital projector.
There will be a charge of £10 for borrowing this equipment, which will go towards new bulbs (which cost over £120 each). For further information, or to book the equipment, contact Lynda Moran on 01327 261848 or ltmoran@hotmail.com.
LIGHT THE SPIRE
If you have a special occasion coming up, why not mark it by having the church spire lit up?
It still only costs £5 per night, and is easily arranged: just contact Chris Cross on 01327 260764 and tell her the date you wish to have the spire lit.
It could be for a birthday or an anniversary; to mark the passing of someone special, or for someone who’s passed an exam or driving test; for some-one who has everything or is difficult to buy for; to say ‘Good Luck’ to someone going to University or moving away; – or just to say ‘I love you’ to a special someone! No-one else needs to know why the spire is lit – but you will!
